My name is Michael Owen and I am a Certified Internet Marketing Professional based in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. I hold Certificates in both Internet Marketing and Business Strategy (CIMBS), as well as in Traditional Business Marketing (CBM). I am a long-time member of the International Internet Marketing Association (IIMA) and in June ‘08 I joined their Vancouver-based Board as the Director of Member Services.

I have been involved in Account Management, sales and marketing for over 20 years, 15 of which have been focused on online search marketing and traffic generation strategies. This has included affiliate program creation, marketing and management.

I founded, and have operated, my marketing consultancy firm, Rainbow Communications, back in 1995 originally in Edmonton, and then for the last 5 years back here in Vancouver. I continue to operate the business as a part-time endeavour.

My areas of interest include Organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO), as well as website usability and Paid Search Engine Marketing (SEM).

Another area of experience and interest is the field of Web Analytics, and using metrics to analyze marketing success (ROI), on-site user behaviour, and improving the over-all user experience. I use several different tools for this, including server-based PHP software, Google Analytics, and Yahoo conversion tracking.

I have years of experience deploying and customizing scalable CMS, directory and e-commerce PHP solutions. This includes: OsCommerce, Drupal, PostNuke, PhpNuke, Esyndicat and Wordpress.

I recently joined the Snap Technologies Team as their in-house Search Optimization and Online Marketing Professional and am enjoying working with a wide variety of clients and projects.
